A 30 Day Journey – Day 27

Day 27 of “A 30 Day Journey into Stillness”

If we really examine what many people refer to as spiritual practice, it actually entails some form of “spiritual by-passing.” That is because we tend to pick and choose our practices and teachings according to our “personal habits” (i.e., “thoughts” and emotional patterns that reflect who we understand ourselves to be.) We unconsciously avoid the teachings and the teachers who might open us up and encourage us to go beyond the “safety” of personal preferences. If our “separate-self” tendencies remain unchallenged, our spiritual practices too easily become “add ons” to the self that is already known (the small self). Whereas, in a transformational spiritual practice, we forever open up to new dimensions of discovering who we are in God — individually and together.
