Day 24 of “A 30 Day Journey into Stillness”

The Journey into Stillness and Silence Practice itself, is about “letting go” into God. And yet, paradoxically, we must be very honest about “where we are.” Otherwise our practices are shallow and do not bear authentic spiritual fruit. As we experience increased levels of letting go into God, we gradually “wake up” inside a much larger “Truth” or “Life Container.” We hardly recognize ourselves in this new Light.

When I walked my first Labyrinth wanting to understand how “I wanted nothing to do with God,” a mystical experience awaited me: I had stepped with one foot in the centre of the Labyrinth, and as I was bringing the second foot into the centre, a thunderous voice came from everywhere simultaneously — from above, below, and within. The voice was deep beyond description and the words rumbled like thunder in the air and through my body, “YOUR RESISTANCE IS NOT SEPARATE FROM ME.” God/Consciousness’s astounding inclusion of even my hardened heart — the heart that wanted nothing to do with God — put my own small ideas of inclusion or exclusion in a very pale and insubstantial light.
